Veterinary in Ireland

Veterinary practices in Ireland

Veterinary care in Ireland ranges from mixed rural practices serving farms to companion-animal clinics in towns and a small number of referral hospitals. This list covers the companies on the CRO register whose principal activity is veterinary services.

What to check before you visit

• Veterinary Council registration. Every vet and veterinary nurse practising in Ireland must be on the register of the Veterinary Council of Ireland, which also certifies premises; both registers are public at vci.ie.
• Out-of-hours cover. Practices must provide or arrange emergency cover; ask which clinic takes calls at night and at weekends.
• Farm animals. Only some practices do large-animal work; check before you call out a vet for livestock or horses.

How this list is built

Companies are included when the CRO register gives NACE code 75 (veterinary activities) as their principal activity. Phone numbers, websites and descriptions come from each company's own website; nothing is copied from other directories.
