Garages and vehicle repairers in Ireland

Vehicle repair in Ireland is a trade of independents: most garages are small, locally owned companies, alongside franchised main dealers' service departments. This list covers the companies on the CRO register whose principal activity is the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, including body shops, tyre and exhaust centres and mobile mechanics.

What to check before you book

• NCT and CVRT. The National Car Test is carried out only at NCTS centres, not at garages; a garage can do the pre-test check and the repairs. Commercial vehicles are tested at authorised CVRT test centres, some of which are garages.
• Trade membership. The Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) lists member garages that sign up to its code of practice and complaints procedure.
• Written quotes. Ask for an itemised estimate before work starts; the Consumer Rights Act 2022 covers repair services.

How this list is built

Companies are included when the CRO register gives NACE code 45.2, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, as their principal activity, or code 45 where the register gives no finer code. Phone numbers, websites and descriptions come from each company's own website; nothing is copied from other directories.
