Funeral services in Ireland

Funeral directors in Ireland

Funeral directing in Ireland is largely a family trade, with most towns served by one or two long-established undertakers. This list covers the companies on the CRO register whose principal activity is funeral and related activities.

What to check

• Association membership. The Irish Association of Funeral Directors has a code of practice and a complaints procedure for member firms; membership is voluntary and the trade is not licensed by the state.
• Itemised costs. Ask for a written estimate that separates the funeral director's own fees from third-party costs such as the grave, cremation fee, newspaper notice and celebrant.
• Death notices. Most Irish funeral directors publish arrangements on RIP.ie; check the notice is correct before it goes live.

How this list is built

Companies are included when the CRO register gives NACE code 96.03 (funeral and related activities) as their principal activity. Phone numbers, websites and descriptions come from each company's own website; nothing is copied from other directories.
