Electrical contractors in Ireland

Electricians are the second-largest construction trade on the Irish company register, and the work has changed fast: alongside rewiring and fuse boards, a large share of firms now install EV chargers, solar panels and battery storage. Most are small companies serving their own county and the neighbouring ones.

What to check before you hire

  • Safe Electric registration. In Ireland, electrical work in a home that is classed as restricted (new circuits, fuse boards, rewiring) must be done by a Registered Electrical Contractor, and the contractor must issue a completion certificate. The public register is at safeelectric.ie.
  • Solar and EV grants. SEAI grants for solar PV and EV home chargers require a registered installer; check the SEAI lists before accepting a quote.
  • Insurance and a written quote with labour, materials and VAT itemised.

How this list is built

Companies are included when the CRO register gives NACE code 43.21 (electrical installation) as their principal activity. Contact details and descriptions come from the company's own website where it has one.
