Architects in Ireland

Architectural work in Ireland is done by registered architects, architectural technologists and design practices of all sizes, from sole practitioners drawing house extensions to firms working on hospitals and offices. This list covers the companies on the CRO register whose principal activity is architectural services.

What to check before you appoint a practice

  • Protected title. Under the Building Control Act 2007 only people on the register kept by the RIAI (Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland) may use the title architect. The register is public; many good design practices are led by technologists or engineers who do not use the title.
  • Building Control. New buildings and extensions over 40 m² come under the Building Control Regulations; owners of one-off houses and home extensions can opt out of statutory certification, but a registered professional should still sign off the work.
  • Planning. Ask who prepares and lodges the planning application and what happens if further information is requested.

How this list is built

Companies are included when the CRO register gives NACE code 71.11 (architectural activities) as their principal activity. Phone numbers, websites and descriptions come from each company's own website; nothing is copied from other directories.
